The all-English course "Nutritional aspects of gut health and immunity" will be offered from December 17 to December 28, with a total of 40 class hours and 2 credits. The course format is classroom instruction, and the main instructor is Professor Niel Alexander Karrow from the University of Guelph in Canada.
Course Description: This course will provide an overview of gut physiology and discuss the contribution of antinutritional factors and epithelial barrier immunopathology to diseases of food producing animals. Topics in gut health and immunity will be explored, including use of in vitro and in vivo animal models to investigate the contribution of nutrient imbalance to risk of disease, nutrition to support the mucosal barrier and the gut immune function, and the potential use of prebiotics, probiotics and postbiotics to support gut health and immunity.
